About me

As a proud ex-Wallington High girl (Class of ’94) and a fully qualified teacher, I bring over 26 years of experience in education. I graduated from the University of Warwick in 1999 with First Class Honours in English Literature and Qualified Teacher Status.

I’ve held senior roles including:

Head of Year

Head of English

Head of Pre-Prep

Assistant Head of School

I began tutoring for the 11-Plus 9 years ago and moved online during the pandemic. The format has been so successful that I’ve stayed that way — with parents overwhelmingly preferring the flexibility and effectiveness of my virtual sessions.

I provide first class tuition for primary school students who need extra support or challenge and English, maths and creative writing prep for those sitting 11-Plus grammar and independent school exams.

Information

Preparing for the 11+ can feel like an overwhelmingly huge step but with the right guidance, it can become a journey of confidence and success.

I am highly experienced teacher and former Head of English, with a strong track record of excellent 11+ results. These lessons are designed to maximise progress while supporting each child along the way.

Sessions in English (comprehension, spelling, grammar and vocabulary) and maths are focused and results-driven, building key skills, exam techniques and confidence. Children are challenged appropriately while receiving individual support to help them feel secure and capable.

Lessons are engaging and interactive, with clear teaching, regular feedback and all resources provided, including homework to reinforce learning.

Above all, these sessions combine high expectations with a warm, encouraging approach—helping every child reach their full potential with confidence.

My fully interactive and engaging lessons encourage students to share their ideas, providing immediate feedback and support. Using the innovative online educational tools such as Wayground and Nearpod, I monitor every child’s screen and offer personalised challenge and support.

Someone you can trust

Making the decision to try for independent or grammar school can be quite overwhelming. Let me ease the pressure with my carefully planned and proven course, which covers everything your child will need to know in order to be successful. Students can take as many sessions per week as they can fit into their schedule .

My students have an incredible success rate. This year, they amassed 76 offers and 17 academic scholarships between them.

My lessons focus on actually teaching concepts rather than just rote learning/practice paper practice.

My lessons are fully interactive, engaging and enjoyable.

My students achieve outstanding and unrivalled success.

Here are just some of the schools I have successfully prepped students for:

Tiffins, Wallington High School for Girls, Wilsons, Wallington Country Grammar, Nonsuch, St Pauls, Kings, Newstead Wood, Whitgift, Trinity, City of London, Caterham, Woldingham, Reigate Grammar, Tonbridge, The Judd, RGS Guildford, Croydon High, Lingfield, Dubai College, St Johns, St Olaves, Sevenoaks, Cheltenham Ladies College, Epsom College, Cranleigh, Worth, Dunottar, Royal Russell, Dulwich College, Wimbledon High, Bexley Grammar, St Albans, St Dunstan’s College and Brighton College.

Step Write Up – Creative Writing

Being able to express oneself in writing is an essential life skill. Children who can write well perform better in GCSE and A Level exams and primary students are assessed at the end of Year 6. If your child is sitting for independent school or certain grammars, they will be assessed on their creative writing skills across a range of genres.

This is a much neglected area in schools and, with competition for places at an all time high, our Step Write Up courses are an essential part of the process.

Year 6 SATS Prep

As a highly experienced Year 6 teacher and former Assistant Head, I understand just how important this year can feel—for both children and parents. Having supported countless pupils through their SATs over the years, I know how to build not only strong academic skills but also the confidence and resilience children need to succeed.

These weekly lessons are designed especially for children in Year 6, providing a calm, supportive space to reinforce what they are learning in school. Sessions follow the same structure and pace used by most primary schools, helping children feel reassured, prepared and one step ahead.

English and Maths are taught on alternate weeks, giving children balanced support across both subjects. Whether your child is working towards Expected Standard or aiming to Exceed, they will be gently guided, encouraged and challenged in the right way for them.

Every lesson is interactive, engaging and carefully planned, with all resources provided—including homework—so you can feel confident your child is fully supported at home and in lessons.

Most importantly, children leave each session feeling positive and proud of what they’ve achieved. The lesson always finishes with a fun, interactive online quiz—an enjoyable way to celebrate progress and build confidence week by week.
