Secondary Education

Secondary

Having experience of teaching up to and above thirty teenagers, it is fair to say our teachers have been there, done that, and got the t-shirt. Whatever your reason for looking for additional teaching for your child, we will find the right solution for you. Our teachers are all fully qualified, with current or recent experience in the classroom and we pride ourselves on the care we take to find the perfect match for your child.

We cover the core subjects in the secondary National Curriculum and also geography, business studies, economics, and languages as a 1-2-1 or 2-2-1 option, with small group lessons also available in English, maths, and science.  Our teachers have experience of different exam boards and being online means that location is no barrier to an outstanding education and experience.

Valuing the importance of a three-way relationship between parent, child, and teacher is essential for maximum progress and attainment to be achieved.  Our teachers give feedback after each lesson so parents have a full understanding of exactly where their child is at, and where they need to be.

Trying to assist a teenager with a challenging homework task can be incredibly stressful for all involved.  In terms of supporting our children, many of us find the secondary objectives somewhat more challenging than in earlier years, and allowing a professional to provide the input can eradicate anxiety all around.

Key Stage 3

We offer both 1-2-1, 2-2-1, and small group lessons for students in Years 7, 8, and 9 in all subjects at all levels. Many children find the transition from primary to secondary quite challenging in terms of the work expectation and content. Our teachers have extensive experience of the expected standards for this age group and are adept at identifying and filling any gaps, providing a solid foundation for GCSEs.

GCSE’s

At GBA, we understand that by the time children reach Year 10, the subject matter studied becomes a great deal more complex. If you are finding homework a battle, allow our teachers to remove the stress for you and provide support for the whole family. We can provide an individualised lesson journey and plan for your child; revisiting subject content, teaching revision skills and exam technique, building confidence, and showing how to manage time effectively. If your teen is finding a particular piece of homework a challenge, help is close at hand! Our 1-2-1 and 2-2-1 lessons in English (language and/ or literature) science (dual cert or separate physics, chemistry, and biology) maths (intermediate and higher level) business, history and economics are taught by fully qualified subject specialists who have many years of experience in preparing children for these exams and marking papers too.

A Levels

Many students in Years 12 and 13 are preparing for university. This is a period of great change as children become young adults and with that comes a great deal more independence and reliance on self-motivation. Our A-Level teachers, who have degrees and QTS or PGCE in their subject, can produce a tailored programme for your child, which matches their learning style and interests. With detailed subject knowledge, they can provide your child with all the academic and study skills needed for success, now and in the future.

What Our Parents Say…

“Just about to email you to say thank you so much. She came off the lesson beaming and said you were “brilliant and much better than her school teachers”. Apparently, you made it easier to understand, so thank you again. Really appreciate it and am thrilled we have you working with our girls.”
Richard Goulden, Years 7 and 10 dad
“Lola has come downstairs buzzing about the guy! I remember Mr Shakespeare being super boring so thank you for putting such a fab spin on him! Appreciated more than you realise.”
Claire Milioto, Year 8 mum
“I’m delighted to report that Skye has just received her Year 9 school report and has got an ‘Outstanding’ in science. Her 1:1 lessons with you have undoubtedly played a big part in her achievement and all credit to your excellent teaching! As you know, she is really keen to do triple sciences at GCSE and it looks like she is well on the way to being able to do this.”
Rowena Summers, Year 9 mum
“Marissa is currently in the middle of a maths exam and she just text me saying “I love Jo so much I’m whizzing through this” !! I actually feel like crying and can’t thank you enough. This is the first time EVER since she was born that she felt this way about a maths exam. Ali, you weren’t wrong when you said you knew the perfect woman!”
Elena Antonio, Year 10 mum
